AMMAN — Jordan welcomes the political détente witnessed as a result of the Swedish-hosted negotiations between rivals in the war in Yemen, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said on Friday.
Delegations agreed to cease fire in Hodeida port, exchange prisoners, permit humanitarian aid to reach the besieged city and set a framework for future negotiations, including the situation in Taiz city, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Safadi highlighted the need for consensus over a political solution to the Yemeni crisis that ends the suffering of the Yemeni people based on UNSC Resolution 2216, national dialogue and the Gulf Cooperation Council’s initiative.
The minister also voiced his appreciation for regional and international efforts that have contributed to achieving these “positive” results, underscoring the implementation of the agreements to reach a political solution and enhance regional security and stability.
