AMMAN — Jordan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Wasfi Ayyad on Tuesday presented his credentials to Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC) Moussa Faki, as the Kingdom’s resident and permanent ambassador to the AUC, the Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday.
During the ceremony, Faki congratulated Ayyad and commended Jordan’s “strong” ties with the African entity, praising its “key role” in regional and global arenas, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Ayyad commended the work of the AUC, which was established based on principles that respect international cooperation, security, peace and human rights.
He said that Jordan shares common stances with the AUC on several issues, especially those related to the Palestinian cause and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-1967 borders.
