AMMAN — Director of the Jordan Field Hospital “Nablus/1” said on Tuesday that in the midst of the Israeli aggression against Gaza and the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, the Jordanian Field Hospital in Nablus has emerged as a vital refuge of treatment for Palestinians.
He added that the hospital serves thousands of people, particularly those in need, individuals with limited incomes, and workers who have encountered challenges since Israel's expulsion of thousands of workers and the discontinuation of salaries for Palestinian employees since October 7.
Maaytah stressed that the hospital was deployed to Nablus in line with Royal directives to provide support and address the health requirements of the Palestinian population, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Since its commencement on November 23, the hospital has served 13,153 patients and conducted a diverse range of surgical procedures, Maaytah said. The hospital infrastructure comprises seven trailers housing operating theatres, medical wards, a laboratory, radiology facilities, a pharmacy, a dental clinic, admissions area and a sterilisation unit.
He also said that the hospital offers diverse medical specialties, including neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, general surgery, urology, paediatric surgery, paediatric internal medicine, haematology, orthopaedic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, internal medicine, emergency medicine and trauma care.
Jordan has established five field hospitals in Palestine, three in the West Bank (Nablus, Ramallah and Jenin) and two in Gaza (Khan Yunis and Tal Al Hawa). Over several decades, these hospitals have provided free medical treatment and essential medicines to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
