AMMAN — In implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives, the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) has established two field hospitals in war-torn Gaza Strip and another in Nablus in occupied West Bank to support the ailing health sector.
Upon Royal Directives, JAF established the Jordanian field hospital-North Gaza 1 in 2009 following the Hamas-Israel war in 2008, with the facility receiving over two million patients since its inception, according to latest figures released by the army.
Since the outbreak of the ongoing war on Gaza on October 7, the hospital has received over 43,000 patients and injured people in the besieged strip.
With the Israeli aggression on Gaza spreading all over Gaza, JAF, upon Royal Directives, established the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza’s Khan Younis, dubbed “South Gaza 2”, in late November last year in response to the deteriorating health conditions in the coastal enclave.
HRH Crown Prince Hussein on November 20 travelled to Egypt’s Al Arish, to oversee the preparation and dispatch of the special Jordanian field hospital/2 for southern Gaza.
The hospital, with a capacity of 41 beds and 41 incubators, has carried out over 10,000 surgeries and received more than 86,000 cases since its establishment.
On November 15, seven members of the medical staff at a Jordanian field hospital in Gaza were injured at the entrance of the emergency department, JAF said at the time, while trying to administer medical aid to Palestinians who had been injured during an Israeli air strike.
Jordan also provides medical services for Palestinians in the West Bank, where JAF established the Jordanian field hospital in Nablus in late November 2023.
The field hospital in Nablus has conducted over 900 surgeries and received more than 83,000 patients since then, according to JAF.
Also in the West Bank, Jordan operates two health centres in Ramallah and Jenin, which have provided health services to thousands of patients over years of operation.
