AMMAN — Jordanians took to the streets following Friday prayer in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in protest of the Israeli war against the Gaza Strip.

The marches in Amman and various governorates saw the participation of popular, youth and partisan groups, all gathered to condemn the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, which since 7 October has resulted in the death of 33,091 people and the wounding of 75,750, a significant number of whom are children and women.

Participants expressed their support, solidarity and backing for the "resilient" Palestinian people, who have remained steadfast in the face of Israel's criminal policies targeting schools, mosques, churches, hospitals and the lives of innocent civilians.

Amid chants condemning the occupation's atrocities, the participants also denounced the US and Western support for Israel in its aggression against Gaza.

The participants also called on Arab nations, international organisations and the world community to stand in solidarity with Gaza and place pressure on Israel to stop its ongoing war on the Strip.

They also criticised the international community's silence on the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza and called for the provision of comprehensive assistance to the people of Gaza, including the establishment of safe corridors for the delivery of aid.

The participants also commended Jordan's "steadfast" stance, in supporting and standing in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
