JTA suspension subject to appeal — Justice minister

AMMAN — All decisions made by the attorney general’s office, including the decision to suspend the Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) and close its headquarters, are subject to appeal before specialised courts, Justice Minister Bassam Talhouni said on Sunday.

During a joint press conference with other ministers at the Prime Ministry, Talhouni said that the attorney general’s office statement about the JTA points out that these cases are related to violations against the JTA council, and “the government does not have the authority to comment on the case before the investigation ends”.

Regarding the gag order on the case, the minister said “it aims at preserving confidentiality of the investigation”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
