AMMAN — Jordan on Monday reiterated that the Israeli violations in Jerusalem undermine the peace process and threaten to plunge the region into a religious conflict that feeds into extremism and violence.

At a meeting with his Norwegian counterpart Børge Brende, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said these repeated violations will lead the region back to a cycle of violence.

Judeh thanked Norway for its role in organising the conference to rebuild Gaza and supporting peace efforts.

Brende commended Jordan’s pursuit of regional peace and stability.

Discussions also covered developments in Syria and Iraq, and the need to combat terrorism and reach peaceful solution to the crises in these two countries.

Also on Monday, Judeh and Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs Masagos Zulkiflion reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral ties in a meeting during which they also examined the latest regional developments.

Zulkiflion expressed his country’s appreciation of Jordan’s efforts to achieve regional security and stability.
