AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Princess Muna, Ruwaida Maitaah, advisor to the princess for health and community development, attended the opening ceremony of the “Primary Health Care and Wellbeing” conference, which was organised by the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST).

The conference, which was attended by experts in the field of primary healthcare and wellbeing, discussed topics related to the transition to primary healthcare, comprehensive health insurance, and improving the quality of health services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

JUST President Khaled Salem said that the 2033 Economic Modernisation Vision was based on discussions of national economic workshops held at the Royal Hashemite Court in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah.

He added that His Majesty’s directives emphasised Jordan’s reputable healthcare sector, which enjoys a track record of achievements.

On the sidelines of the conference, a tripartite cooperation agreement was signed between JUST, University of Huddersfield in Britain and the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET).

The agreement aims to develop collaborative research projects in the areas of clinical practice, epidemiology and public health, implementing academic and research projects, establishing training programmes focused on antimicrobial resistance and infectious diseases, and “building bridges of cooperation” in the fields of education and scientific research.
