Khamasini dusty depression hits the Kingdom

AMMAN — A significant drop in temperatures is forecast for Thursday following Wednesday’s khamasini dusty depression in the Kingdom.

On Friday the depression will return along with increased temperatures, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The weather department forecasts south-westerly brisk winds on Friday, with gusts as fast as 40-50 kilometres per hour, while at night rainfall is expected in different areas around the Kingdom with north-westerly moderate to brisk winds.

On Saturday, temperatures are forecast to drop significantly, bringing cold and cloudy weather with a chance of rainfall in northern and central areas in the Kingdom, and northwesterly moderate to brisk winds raising dust in Badia areas.

Temperatures in Amman on Thursday are forecast to reach a high of 31° Celsius during the day and a low of 20°C during the night, while on Friday they are expected to range between 36°C and 21°C. On Saturday, temperatures are forecast to drop to 27°C during the day and 18°C during the night.

In Aqaba, temperatures on Thursday are forecast to range between 36°C and 24°C, between 36°C and 23°C on Friday, and between 30°C and 22°C on Saturday, according to the JMD.

The JMD also warned about low visibility due to dust around the Kingdom, and on Friday from brisk winds and slippery roads in rainy areas.
