Khasawneh, Qatar counterpart discuss Gaza crisis

The meeting, attended by the minister of state for prime ministry affairs, Ibrahim Jazi, centered around the strong ties between Jordan and Qatar, and the prospects for expanding cooperation in addition to the developments in the region, especially the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The prime minister and his Qatari counterpart reaffirmed their commitment to the historical relations between the two countries, a sentiment shared by King Abdullah of Jordan and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
They also expressed mutual interest in enhancing cooperation across various economic, investment, and developmental sectors, guided by comprehensive action plans that would benefit both countries.
The discussions also touched upon the pressing issue of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Both leaders reiterated their countries’ stance on the urgent need to halt this aggression, protect civilians, and ensure the sustainable and urgent delivery of humanitarian and medical aid, calling for a political framework that guarantees the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 lines.
Khasawneh voiced concerns over the catastrophic consequences of any military action on Rafah and the humanitarian crisis caused by the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, urging the international community to prevent such a catastrophe.
He also commended Qatar’s efforts to broker a ceasefire and facilitate a prisoner exchange, contributing to the end of a war now entering its seventh month.
Khasawneh also met with Saudi energy minister, Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman with discussions focused on bolstering cooperation between Jordan and Saudi Arabia in various energy sectors. They also reiterated their commitment to enhancing partnerships to serve the mutual interests of both nations of both countries.
