King attends military drill

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Thursday attended a military drill carried out by the King Hussein Bin Ali Brigade, on the occasion of the Kingdom’s 71st Independence Day.

Upon arrival, the Supreme Commander was received by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Yasser Manasir, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty listened to a briefing by Manasir on the drill’s various phases that included live fire exercises by different weapons and vehicles, and combat in urban areas with the aid of warplanes of the Royal Air Force and Special Operations.

Participants in the drill showed high levels of accuracy in shooting targets as well as coordination among each other, which highlighted their high morale and advanced skills in dealing with various circumstances, the statement said.

Several senior civil officials and military officers attended the event.
