King congratulates French President-elect Macron

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday sent a cable to President-elect of France Emmanuel Macron, congratulating him on winning the French presidential election, according to a Royal Court statement.

In the cable, His Majesty voiced Jordan’s interest to boost bilateral cooperation with France and work with it to achieve regional and international peace.

He wished the president success in his tasks and prosperity and progress for the French people.

Macron will be inaugurated as France’s next leader next Sunday at the Elysee Palace, replacing Francois Hollande, Agence France-Presse reported.
