AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday met with several military leaders from countries participating in the 11th Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX) 2016.

His Majesty met with the delegates who represented Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Australia, Romania, Mexico, Belgium, South Africa and Poland, according to a Royal Court statement.

He discussed with the officers cooperation between Jordan and their respective countries at different levels, especially in the military and defence fields.

Talks also focused on opportunities provided by SOFEX, the world’s leading event in the field and the only show of its kind in the region. The exhibition, they agreed, facilitates stronger economic and military partnerships between Jordan and these countries.

For their part, the military leaders expressed their admiration of the "advanced level and high professionalism" the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army has reached at regional and international levels.

They also commended SOFEX' role in providing an opportunity for special operations stakeholders to meet and have a first-hand look at the latest equipment in the fields of special operations, security, peacekeeping and training fields, the statement added.

King’s Military Adviser and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben attended the meetings.

SOFEX, whose this year's version attracted more than 380 companies from 37 countries, is an international event that introduces the world's biggest defence equipment producers and developers to international senior military leaders, decision makers and government representatives.

Economically, the exhibition provides an opportunity for major local, regional and international companies to showcase their latest special operations equipment and up-to-date technologies related to the national security.
