King meets US, Italian army commanders

AMMAN —  His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday discussed bilateral cooperation, especially in military fields, with Commander of the US Central Command Gen. Joseph Votel, according to a Royal Court statement. 

During the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by HRH Prince Feisal, His Majesty and Votel discussed regional developments and efforts to combat terrorism within a comprehensive strategy. 

The meeting was attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and King's Office Director Jafar Hassan. 

In a separate meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, the King discussed bilateral cooperation in military and defence affairs with Chief of Staff of Italian Army Gen. Danilo Errico, a Royal Court statement said. 

During the meeting attended by Prince Feisal and Freihat, the King and Errico discussed regional developments and efforts to combat terrorism. 

Freihat also met separately with Errico and the accompanying military delegation, and they discussed regional developments and army-related issues. 

The US and Italy are taking part in the ongoing Eager Lion war games hosted by Jordan annually.
