King, in phone call with US secretary of state, discusses efforts to contain COVID-19

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, in a phone call on Thursday with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, discussed bilateral and international efforts to contain the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as the need to maintain cooperation to address its economic and humanitarian impacts.

Secretary Pompeo thanked Jordan for its support for the United States in countering COVID-19, according to a Royal Court statement.

Discussions covered regional developments, with King Abdullah reaffirming Jordan’s steadfast position on these issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.

The phone call also touched on the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and His Majesty expressed appreciation for the US’ ongoing support for the Kingdom, the statement said.
