AMMAN — Jordan on Thursday reaffirmed its support for legitimacy in Yemen and for the Yemeni government’s efforts to restore peace and stability to the war-torn country.

During a meeting in Amman with Yemeni counterpart Ahmed Bin Daghr, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz commended the “strategic and historical” relations between Amman and Sanaa, underlining His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives to the government to support Yemen in the international arena, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Razzaz expressed Jordan’s preparedness to present all necessary support and facilities to Yemenis, especially in the educational and health sectors.

Both premiers agreed to carry on with procedures to renew a cooperation protocol in the higher education sector to receive Yemeni students in Jordanian universities.

In this regard, Razzaz said that it is the government’s duty to facilitate procedures for Yemeni students to pursue their studies in the Kingdom so as to contribute to the development and progress of their homeland.

For his part, Bin Daghr acquainted Razzaz with the latest developments in his country, stressing the Yemeni government’s keenness to bring back security and stability to a unified Yemen.

He added that the commitment of all components of the Yemeni society to the outcomes of the national dialogue and resorting to ballot boxes are the only way to end the crisis in the country.
