AMMAN — The Korean embassy on Thursday notified the family of a Korean man, who died in Irbid on Wednesday five hours after arriving in the Kingdom, official sources said.
The 53-year-old man, who came to the country for the first time to work at a research centre at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), died of a heart attack, according to Jordanian and embassy officials.
“The Korean arrived at the airport and was taken to Irbid where he had lunch and started complaining of chest pains,” an official source told The Jordan Times.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died on the way, the source added.
An autopsy conducted on Thursday by Ali Shotar, head of Irbid’s National Institute of Forensic Medicine, concluded that the man died of a heart attack, a medical source told The Jordan Times.
According to an embassy official, the deceased was a Daewoo employee who was delegated to work at the JUST research centre.
“We are currently working on official papers to be able to send him back to Seoul, his hometown, and this is expected early next week,” the embassy official told The Jordan Times.
