AMMAN — The Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) on Sunday met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Krishan and discussed the formation of a joint committee to study and issue recommendations for the creation of three sustainable cities that could achieve energy, water, and food security in the northern, central, and southern regions.
The meeting is part of preparations for the 7th International Investment Forum for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, which will be held in Amman in October, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. AREC Secretary General Muhammad Taani noted that the sustainable cities would provide some 25,000 green housing units, eco-parks, electric transportation, power-saving heating and cooling systems, and electric vehicle charging stations among other features.
