Labour Ministry keen to improve polices to enhance women’s empowerment

AMMAN — The Ministry of Labour is keen to improve its policies and programmes to enhance women's empowerment and economic participation, Minister of Labour Nayef Istitieh said on Tuesday.
On the occasion of the 2022 international Women's Day, which was celebrated under the theme "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow", the minister highlighted the ministry's intention to scale up support for women's role in sustainable development, according to a ministry statement.
Highlighting the ministry's efforts towards women economic empowerment, Istitieh said that gender was included in the legalisations, agreements, policies and budgets, highlighting improvements to control mechanisms to prevent discrimination against women in the labour market.
