Land of Peace Centre holds its 6th World Peace Conference in Kuala Lumpur

AMMAN — The Land of Peace Centre for Development and Human Rights (LOP), a Jordan-based NGO, recently held its sixth World Peace Conference in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
The two-day event, titled “Global Peace - Alternatives to Violence” from May 11-12, was held in coordination between the National University of Malaysia, Education Malaysia Jordan and the Malaysian embassy in Amman, according to an embassy statement.
Vice President of the National University of Malaysia Ahmed Qasim, officials from the Malaysian higher education ministry and representatives of Malaysian universities, students and members of civil society institutions attended the event.
In his welcoming speech, Azmir Mohd, Malaysia’s deputy higher education minister, pointed out the importance of holding such conferences in the field of peaceful exchange and spreading a culture of global peace, especially among university students across the world.
LOP Director Imad Al Zghoul thanked the Malaysian government and the National University of Malaysia for hosting the conference, highlighting Jordan’s leading role in laying the foundations of peace across the world.
