AMMAN — The “largest logistics city” in Jordan will soon open in Aqaba, providing comprehensive services for investment companies, a spokesperson said Tuesday.

The JD20-million Golden Triangular Logistic City, whose inauguration will coincide with His Majesty King Abdullah’s birthday on January 30, 2017, will offer all of the necessary logistical services to attract successful investments in Aqaba, according to the spokesperson of the state-run Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), Khalil Farrayeh.

Established on the northern shore of the Aqaba coast in cooperation with several local investment partners, the city will provide large warehouses for exported and imported goods, centres for customs and clearance operations, and packaging services.

“The city will cooperate with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority to increase the amount of storage, trade and industry, which will contribute to the quality of logistical services in Aqaba as a whole,” Farrayeh told The Jordan Times.

The 260,000-square-metre city, which also includes 140,000-sqaure-metre areas for customs services, will cooperate with public and private sectors operating in Aqaba, 330km south of Amman, according to Farrayeh.

The ADC was launched in 2004 by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and the government.

It owns Aqaba’s seaport, airport and strategic parcels of land as well as the development and management rights for these assets, in addition to key infrastructure and utilities, according to its website.
