AMMAN — Lawmakers on Wednesday reiterated their unwavering support for His Majesty King Abdullah in every decision he makes to defend the nation and uphold its interests, particularly in relation to the Palestinian cause.
During a session chaired by Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, in the presence of Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, MPs commended the King's remarks [during , describing them as both political and rational, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
His Majesty's message unequivocally affirmed Jordan's stance against any form of displacement, deputies noted, highlighting that the Kingdom's historical and consistent positions on Palestine are not open to compromise, and stressing Jordan's support for the Palestinian people's just struggle.
The session, which was initially a legislative one, shifted to a special session to focus on the King’s meeting with US President Donald Trump the previous day, with 110 MPs participating.
The MPs stated that any solution to the Palestinian issue must align with a unified Arab stance, emphasising their rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians or resolve the issue at Jordan's expense.
They stressed that His Majesty would never compromise on Jordan’s sovereignty and the rights of Arabs, condemning efforts to displace the Palestinians as a blatant violation of Arab and Palestinian rights.
Lawmakers urged the government to take the issue to the International Criminal Court (ICC), stating that displacement equates to war, expressing full support to King Abdullah's three no’s in defence of Palestinian rights.
Deputies also warned of the potential for greater escalation and destruction from schemes aiming to displace Palestinians, and highlighted the dangerous repercussions this would have on regional stability.
MPs called on the Arab nations to take a strong stance in protecting Gaza’s residents from Israeli aggression, underscoring the importance of standing by Gaza and supporting its resilience.
At the economic level, lawmakers also pushed for a national economic plan focused on self-reliance, reducing dependence on foreign aid, and ensuring fiscal discipline.
The Lower House stressed the Kingdom's historic and continuing support for Palestine, underlining that the Jordanian people stand firmly behind King Abdullah in his positions regarding Gaza and the Palestinian cause.
The lawmakers advocated for an Arab unified position to reject displacement and called for an integrated plan to support Gaza's resilience and reconstruction.
Deputies also praised King Abdullah’s leadership during his meeting with President Trump, which reflected His Majesty's unwavering commitment to defending the Arab cause, reiterating that the Palestinian issue is seen as a concern for the entire Arab world, not just for Jordan or Egypt.
MPs stressed that Jordan has never been and would never be part of any scheme to liquidate the Palestinian issue.
Safadi delivered a speech calling on deputies and Jordanians to head to Marka Airport to receive King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Hussein upon arriving from the US, scheduled for Thursday.
