AMMAN — The Lower House on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent offensive remarks made by the spokesperson for India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) about Prophet Mohammad.
The House called on the international community and the concerned UN agencies to take the necessary procedures to combat such practices against Muslims in India, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Lower House said that these attacks coincide with an escalation of hatred against and offences to Islam, especially in light of several decisions banning the hijab in educational institutions in several Indian states and demolishing of several properties of Muslims.
The House also referred to India’s historical role in defending human rights, where its positions formed a pillar in instilling these values, noting that the international community today is in dire need to discard hate speech and violence and respect all opinions.
