AMMAN— The Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) has approved nine school transport companies in Amman, Irbid and Zarqa to provide transport means alternative to unlicensed private vehicles and minibuses.
“Some of the nine public school transportation companies will start operating at the beginning of the second school semester after meeting the requirements and conditions of the LTRC,” LTRC Director Bashar Omari told The Jordan Times on Tuesday.
Omari said that the commission has issued four approvals to school transport companies in Amman, four in Zarqa and one in Irbid.
“The LTRC will be granting more permits for student transport companies, with the aim of enhancing services for public school students,” Omari said.
The numbers of transport project beneficiaries reach 116,500 in the south of the Kingdom, 350,000 beneficiaries in Irbid, Jerash and Ajloun, 335,500 in Amman and 52,000 in Balqa, according to Omari.
