Man charged with premeditated murder of his wife

AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor on Monday charged a 53-year-old man with premeditated murder in connection with the alleged murder of his wife in Zarqa a day earlier, senior official sources said.

The 43-year-old wife was reportedly stabbed multiple times by her husband with a kitchen knife while at their home following a domestic dispute on Sunday night, a senior judicial source said.

"The suspect contacted the police to inform them that he murdered his wife," the senior judicial source told The Jordan Times. 

Initial investigations indicated that the couple "would often quarrel", a second official source told The Jordan Times. 

Investigators seized a kitchen knife, "which was sent to the Crime Lab for further analysis", the second official source added. 

The Criminal Court prosecutor will summon family members of the victim and the suspect to learn more about the incident, according to the second official source. 

The victim is survived by three children, according to the second source.

The suspect was ordered detained by the Criminal Court prosecution office for 15 days at a correctional and rehabilitation centre pending further investigation.
