Meeting ahead of Eager Lion military drills addresses plans, preparations

AMMAN — Military Training Director Brig. Gen. Mohammad Thalji, attended the first preparatory meeting of the 2019 Eager Lion drills, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, the drills’ scenario was said to be designed to simulate the strategic changes that take place in regional and international environments, in order to meet the defence requirements of all the countries participating in the drills and to determine the preparedness of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army.
Thalji said that the Eager Lion drills are a good opportunity for the forces participating in the drills to test their operational defence capabilities in different areas, such as countering terrorism, border security, maritime security, disaster response and humanitarian assistance.
The annual drill, aimed at increasing coordination and cooperation between the armies of Jordan and the US, are one of the more important drills at the regional and global levels; which can be attributed to executing significant activities and plans, as well as expertise exchange among the participants. Besides Jordan and US, a number of countries will take part in the 2019 Eager Lion drills, Petra reported.
