AMMAN — MPs on Wednesday decried the international community's "silence and inaction" on the Israeli war in Gaza and the occupation's "genocide" against Palestinians in the besieged strip.

During an oversight session on Wednesday, lawmakers called on the international community to adopt a "decisive" position and exercise pressure on Israel to stop its "war crimes and genocide" against the Palestinian people, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

They also called out for "strong" action to prevent the forced displacement of Palestinians, urging intensified and collective efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

MPs also condemned the Western media for "distorting facts" in favour of Israel, according to Petra.

Lawmakers also hailed the "resilience" and "braveness" of the medical staff at the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza, citing in this regard HRH Crown Prince Hussein's recent visit to Egypt's El Arish, where he supervised the assembling and dispatch of Jordan's second field hospital to Gaza.

Seven staff members of the Jordanian field hospital were wounded in an Israeli air strike last week. The Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army have previously said that military planes have twice air-dropped medical supplies to the hospital.
