AMMAN — The National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), in collaboration with Jordan Date Association (JODA) has conducted training for agricultural engineers from Eritrea titled "Modern Techniques used in Crop Multiplication and Methods for Genetic Improvement".

Director-General of NARC Nizar Haddad, in a statement, said that the centre is currently working to train agricultural engineers from abroad.

NARC has become a destination for many foreign scientists to gain knowledge and transfer scientific expertise to their own countries, he said in the statement.

Hadded also noted that NARC research stations that study various environmental ecosystems and conduct agricultural research are spread throughout all governorates of Jordan.

Iyad Musallam, Director of Biotechnology Research Directorate asserted that the training of the Eritrean engineers comes within a framework of joint collaboration, adding that the Biotechnology Directorate is making “significant efforts” in this regard, as more than 30 engineers have received intensive training on agricultural biotechnology in the last six months.

In addition, NARC has organised laboratory visits for more than 200 visitors, who were briefed on services including genetic screening, seed testing and plant multiplication through the use of tissue culture techniques, the statement said.
