New Jordanian banknotes to maintain same denominations as 4th issue — CBJ

By JT - Sep 13,2022 - Last updated at Sep 13,2022

AMMAN — The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) said that the 5th issue of Jordanian banknotes will maintain the same denominations of the 4th issue, which includes JD50, JD20, JD10, JD5 and JD1.

The CBJ said that the new banknotes will be circulated alongside the older ones, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The Cabinet on Sunday endorsed a bylaw for issuing Jordanian banknotes for 2022. The CBJ said that the new issue seeks to keep pace with global technical developments in the currency printing field, integrate the latest security features in printing banknotes, improve circulated banknote quality, extend their lifetime and protect against counterfeiting.

The main component of the new issue will be cotton, as was the case with the 4th issue, and the new bylaw will go into effect after the issuance of a Royal Decree approving it and publishing it in the Official Gazette.
