AMMAN — Education Above All (EAA) plans to offer “thousands of young Syrian refugees” access to higher education and leadership skills, the organisation announced on Monday. EAA’s Al Fakhoora programme, initially launched in Gaza, is being expanded to reach Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and opposition-held areas inside Syria, EAA said in a statement.
As well as globally recognised qualifications, Syrian refugees enrolled in Al Fakhoora programme will gain leadership skills, psychosocial support and economic empowerment, the statement quoted EAA Chief Executive Fahad Al Sulaiti as saying. Less than 5 per cent of Syrian refugees currently have access to higher education, according to EAA.
