AMMAN — The Eastern Military Zone personnel on Thursday dawn foiled an infiltration and smuggling attempt, which resulted in the killing of a smuggler, the arrest of another and the escape of others into Syria, according to a source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).

The source added that border guards, in coordination with other concerned security agencies, spotted a group of people who were approaching borders and tried to cross in an illegal way, which required them to apply the rules of engagement followed in such cases, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Searching the area, JAF personnel found 175,000 Captagon pills that were referred to relevant authorities. The source added that the army will apply “full force” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts, protecting the Kingdom’s borders and citizens.
