AMMAN — The 2022 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG), scheduled from Monday, April 18 through Sunday, April 24, will witness the participation of Finance Minister Mohamad Al-Ississ and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh.

Accompanied by Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) Adel Sharkas, both ministers will head to the US early next week to take part in several events and sessions listed on the meetings’ agenda.

Al-Ississ and Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the IMF Jihad Azour are scheduled to take part in the “Achieving Fiscal Discipline with Social Protection in Jordan” session, to be held on April 21.

The meetings will bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, representatives of civil society organisations, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development and aid effectiveness.

During the annual meetings, the Boards of Governors will decide on major policy issues related to the current global monetary issues.

Regional seminars and press conferences, among other events, will be held during the meetings.

The International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), the Development Committee (DC), and G20 meetings will be held in a hybrid format and participants of the meetings may participate in person or virtually, according to the WB website.

All events, including the public events, invitation-only events, Civil Society Organisation engagements, and press conferences, will be virtual and accessible on the WBG and the IMF digital platforms.
