AMMAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Sunday made an unannounced visit to the Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD) to check on the progress of issuing smart ID cards, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During a meeting with Director General Fawaz Alshahwan and senior officials, Mulki highlighted the importance of both the swift and accurate delivery of services. Mulki commended the efforts of the department's employees, especially in light of the large number of citizens exchanging their regular IDs for smart IDs.

The smart IDs are being issued free of charge until June 15, after which the regular IDs will become invalid, Petra reported.
