AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma, president of the Goodwill Campaign’s higher committee, on Saturday attended an Iftar banquet at the Mabarrat Umm Al Hussein for some 200 orphan children.

The banquet saw the participation of children from several orphanages and associations working with orphans in eastern Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The event included a variety of art, cultural and entertainment activities for the children, who also received gifts on the occasion of Ramadan.

They also participated in a football match between Mabarrat Umm Al Hussein and the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development centre for social support teams, with the participation of national footballers, in the presence of the Jordanian national football team’s coach, Vital Borkelmans.

Mabarrat Umm Al Hussein, established in 1958, is a home for orphaned and vulnerable boys.

Chaired by HRH Princess Basma, the Mabarrat provides professional and personal empowerment services for children through the information technology programmes, educational resources rooms and social counselling.

The objective of the Mabarrat is to provide the children with a better life and effectively reintegrating them into their local communities, according to Petra.

The Goodwill Campaign is implemented by the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development.
