Princess Basma attends launch of Int’l Conference on Agricultural Technology

AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma Bint Ali, founder of the Royal Botanical Garden, on Monday attended the launch of the First International Conference on Agricultural Technology, titled “Innovative Agriculture for Food Security”. 

Organised by the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Al Balqa Applied University, the conference brings together nearly 200 researchers and lecturers from 23 Arab and foreign countries, and aims to foster local and global cooperation between government bodies and institutions at all levels to promote sustainable development, ensure food security and agricultural sector advancements.

The princess stressed that finding a balance between traditional and technological agriculture is a major challenge that requires coordinated efforts and sharing expertise, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. 

She underlined the importance of investing in research, development, technology integration, international cooperation and knowledge sharing, to enhance the sector’s capabilities and guarantee food security.

She said that rapid technological advancement and innovation in agriculture has an important role in improving agricultural yields and ensuring food security for all. 

In a world characterised by escalating climate and environmental changes, the significance of technological agriculture and innovative farming to address these challenges is clear, the princess said. 

Princess Basma reiterated the need for cooperation and joint action to foster an environment conducive for innovation and the development of new methods to ensure a prosperous agricultural future and sustainable food security.
