AMMAN — HRH Princess Muna, patron for nursing and midwifery in the eastern Mediterranean region and president of the Jordanian Nursing Council, on Thursday inaugurated the 9th Jordanian-Romanian medical conference and the 7th international conference for alumni of Romanian universities’ medical schools.

Participants of the three-day conference will discuss 40 medical papers presented by Jordanian and Romanian doctors in various medical and nursing specialties, and some 200 doctors from various medical sectors at the Ministry of Health, universities, medical services and the private sector will take part in the conference, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The conference president, Aref Aboul Sondas, said that the medical association has been keen to expand the fields covered in medical meetings and conferences, noting that previous conferences have been held in the “friendly country of Romania”, which has contributed to the graduation of a number of Jordanian doctors for more than 50 years.

President of alumni of Romanian universities’ medical schools, Abdel Karim Abadi, said that HRH Princess Muna’s patronage of the conference’s activities as well as previous conferences enhance the Royal Directives to strengthen Jordanian-Romanian relations, and the medical relations in particular.

He stated that the conference is held periodically in Jordan and Romania, with the aim of increasing medical and research cooperation between the two countries and enhancing relations between Jordanian and Romanian universities, pointing to the bilateral meetings to be held between the conference’s participants.

Jordan Medical Association (JMA) President Ali Abous added that this conference is part of a series of conferences and scientific activities held by the JMA for alumni of Romanian universities’ medical schools.
