QAIA received over 1.1m passengers in first 2 months of 2017

AMMAN — Since the start of the year, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) has received a total of 1,101,198 passengers, marking a 2.9 per cent increase compared to 2016, according to a statement released the Airport International Group on Saturday.
In February 2017, the airport welcomed 524,286 passengers compared to 501,862 passengers in February of last year, resulting in a 4.5 per cent year-on-year increase.
However, QAIA registered a 6.8 per cent year-on-year drop in aircraft movement figures, amounting to 5,204 in February of this year compared to last February’s 5,584. Moreover, the airport handled 7,137 tonnes of cargo as opposed to 7,979 tonnes during the same month of last year, effecting a 10.6 per cent fall, the statement said.
