Queen Rania visits child cancer patients from Gaza receiving treatment at King Hussein Cancer Centre

AMMAN — Her Majesty Queen Rania visited a group of pediatric cancer patients on Wednesday, who were recently evacuated from the Gaza Strip and brought to Jordan to resume their treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC) in Amman.

The children are the first group of a total of 41 cancer patients from Gaza expected to be transferred to the centre. Efforts will continue to bring as many cancer patients from the Gaza Strip to Jordan as possible, in light of the suspension of operations of Gaza’s only cancer hospital earlier this month, according to a statement from Her Majesty’s office.  

Her Majesty was received at KHCC by HRH Princess Ghida Talal, chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Centre, as well as Asem Mansour, KHCC director general, and Nisreen Qatamish, KHCF director general.

Queen Rania met with the children and their families, and was briefed by KHCC medical staff on the patients’ medical and emotional conditions. She was also informed of the treatment protocols they will receive at the centre, which will include psychological support. 

During the visit, Princess Ghida expressed her gratitude to the Queen for her humanitarian efforts and directives to bring cancer patients suffering extreme hardship in Gaza to Jordan.
