RASED, ActionAid announce project in support of women in workforce

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi attended the opening of the "Women-friendly mark" conference on Saturday, organised by Al Hayat Centre – RASED for Civil Society Development and ActionAid Arab Region.

The project grants women-friendly rating to every institution that commits to establishing safe work environments for women. The project targets work facilities with at least 50 employees and women comprising at least 30 per cent of the total employees, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Al Hayat Centre – RASED director said that the basis of political empowerment is economic empowerment, and emphasised the need for enhancing women's presence in the labour market.

ActionAid Regional Director Rasha Nasiridin noted that the organisation seeks to enhance the status of working women in Jordan and support institutions with safe work environments for women. Empowering women's roles in the Lower House has always been "effective and distinguished," Safadi said.
