Royal Decree accepts Hawatmeh’s resignation as PSD director

AMMAN — A Royal Decree has been issued, promoting Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh to the rank of Lieutenant General as of September 10, 2022. Another Royal Decree was issued accepting the resignation of Lt. Gen. Hawatmeh from his position as director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) as of September 11, 2022, according to a Royal Court statement. In a letter to Hawatmeh, His Majesty King Abdullah paid tribute to his distinguished service as PSD director and in other key positions, the statement said.
The statement noted that King Abdullah said Hawatmeh successfully implemented the mission he was tasked with — merging the General Directorate of the Gendarmerie and the Civil Defence Directorate into the PSD.
