RSCN releases report on losses caused by Yarmouk Nature Reserve wildfires

AMMAN — The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) on Monday released a report on the losses caused by the wildfires that broke out in Yarmouk Nature Reserve on Saturday night.

The fires affected a total of 829 deciduous oak (also known as the Mount Tabor oak), which is Jordan’s national tree, out of which 826 trees were partially affected and three fully affected, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The report also showed that 150 pine trees, a carob and a Sidr (Lote) tree were fully burnt, in addition to four Styrax trees, out of which three were fully burnt.

The saplings were the most affected, at a total of 2734, out of which 1,234 saplings were fully burnt.
