Safadi conveys King's message to Kuwaiti emir

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday met with Kuwait Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.

During their meeting, Safadi conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings and his keenness to bolster the historical relations that “bind the countries”. 

While receiving Safadi and a number of Arab foreign ministers prior to the start of the consultative meeting hosted by Kuwait, both Sheikh Nawaf Al Sabah and Sheikh Mishal Al Sabah affirmed their pride in the distinguished strategic relations between the countries, sending their greetings to His Majesty King Abdullah.

Meanwhile, Safadi on Saturday held talks with Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al Mohammed Al Sabah, which focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, and discussed a number of Arab and regional issues of common interest.

The two ministers reviewed the preparations for the joint higher committee meeting to be held this year in Kuwait.

They focused on increasing cooperation in fields of economy and investment, as well as education, food security and defence.

They affirmed the strength of the historical relations, stressing keenness to advance them to broader horizons in implementation of the directives of the two leaderships.

Discussing regional developments, they confirmed the continuation of coordination over efforts to resolve regional crises.

The two ministers highlighted the importance of the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers at this sensitive stage, to coordinate efforts and intensify cooperation in approaching challenges and overcoming them.

Developments related to the Palestinian causewere at the top of the agenda, as well as the situation in Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Libya, and support for Iraq and the fight against terrorism.

Safadi is scheduled on Sunday to take part in the consultative meeting of the Arab League at the ministerial level, hosted by Kuwait.
