Safadi, Libya FM talk cooperation

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi and Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs Najla El Mangoush on Sunday discussed means to enhance bilateral relations in various fields and went over regional and international issues of mutual interest and efforts to solve regional crises.
The two ministers stressed the importance of exchanging expertise and enhancing cooperation in combating extremist ideology and terrorism, and the significance of boosting security, stability and peace in the region, and resolving conflicts through peaceful and diplomatic channels, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Safadi and Mangoush discussed ways to enhance relations in various fields and boost cooperation in economic, commercial and other areas in a way that benefits the two countries.
They also discussed Libya's debts to Jordan, mainly owed to the private sector. Mangoush stressed that her country is keen to address the issue, noting that most of the procedures have been completed to repay the debts.
Safadi stressed the Kingdom's support for Libya’s security and political efforts aimed at reaching “a Libyan-Libyan solution” to the crisis in the country in a way that realises political stability, maintains national interests, and meets the aspirations of the Libyan people.
The top diplomats also went over several Arab causes and efforts exerted to activate joint Arab action in services of pan-Arab causes, stressing the importance of the outcomes of the Jeddah-hosted Arab Summit in enhancing Arab solidarity and resolving Arab crises.
Safadi affirmed the Kingdom's solidarity with Libya and its continued support for all efforts aimed at reaching a political solution agreed upon by Libyans, protecting Libya, fulfilling the aspirations of its people, preserving its security and stability. He commended the role played by the UN to achieve these goals in accordance with relevant international references and resolutions.
For her part, Mangoush acquainted Safadi with the latest developments in her country and efforts exerted to unify Libyan institutions. She expressed her appreciation for the role of the Kingdom in preserving security, stability and peace in the region as well as for Jordan's stances that support Libya and the political path aimed at overcoming the crisis.
