AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday received a delegation from the Mashreq/Maghreb Working Party at the EU council over means to further enhance the "strategic partnership" between Jordan and the EU.
Safadi referred to the outcomes of the 14th meeting of the Jordanian-EU partnership council, which was held for the first time outside of EU institutions in Brussels and Luxemburg, and was hosted by the Kingdom in June, according to a ministry statement. He said that the meeting highlights the "solid relations" between Jordan and the EU, where the parties signed a partnership priority document for the next five years, reflecting the EU’s keenness to support Jordan amid regional crises.
He also said that the party is considered a geographic working group concerned with the affairs of Mashreq and Maghreb countries. The group also seeks to enhance the EU’s foreign policy ties with these countries as well as work on the Union for Mediterranean issue, which is headed by the Kingdom in partnership with the EU.
