AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi on Tuesday received a delegation from Institute for Higher National Defence Studies (IHEDN), headed by IHEDN Director Lt. Gen. Benoit Durieux.
The delegation includes French parliamentarians, military officers, politicians, journalists and experts, as well as students from the UAE, the US, Italy, Romania, Belgium, Germany and Sweden, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Safadi stressed "deep-rooted" ties between Jordan and France and other European countries, and the importance of the existing cooperation in economic, investment, cultural, defence and anti-terrorism fields.
The minister briefed the delegates on Jordan's efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, to resolve regional crises and establish security, stability and peace in the region.
He also stressed the centrality of the Palestinian issue and the need to resolve it on the basis of the two-state solution as the only means to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
Safadi also highlighted the importance of the leading pan-Arab role in resolving the crisis in Syria and the outcomes of the Jeddah and Amman meetings.
The minister also reviewed the Kingdom's political, economic and administrative reform programmes.
This is the first IHEDN-organised visit to the Kingdom as part of external tours that the institute annually organises for its students.
