Senate committee meets with EU ambassador, discusses advancing relations

AMMAN — Members of the Senate's Jordan-EU Friendship Committee on Tuesday met with EU Ambassador to the Kingdom Maria Hadjitheodosiou to discuss advancing Jordanian-European cooperation and a variety of regional issues. Senator Nidal Qatamine, who is also chairman of the committee, said that Jordan is a key partner of the EU, not only on the bilateral level, but also on the regional and international levels, noting that the Kingdom is the first country in the Mediterranean region to have achieved "advanced status" in its partnership with the bloc.
Qatamine also highlighted the need to further develop bilateral relations and partnership between Jordan and the EU in various fields, including at the parliamentary level and in economic and development support programmes, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Hadjitheodosiou described the EU-Jordan partnership as "strategic", stressing that EU cooperation programmes are in accordance with the Kingdom's Economic Modernisation Vision.
