AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul on Monday stressed that Jordan and Egypt see eye-to-eye on various regional issues, stressing that both countries’ security and stability are intertwined.
Shboul, during a meeting with an Egyptian media delegation, touched on an initiative put forth by five Arab countries to contact global companies to come up with a new strategy for social media, noting that a technical report will be prepared by the Arab States Broadcasting Union to be discussed at an upcoming meeting of the Council of Arab Information Ministers.
He also highlighted the importance of creating an Arab coalition to counter the “dangers of social media”, as it hurts media outlets’ advertising, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Shboul, who is also the government spokesperson, also referred to the Kingdom’s “firm” stance towards the Palestinian cause, and His Majesty King Abdullah’s role in standing against the occupation forces’ practices, highlighting the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian sites.
He also went over the challenges facing Jordan at the external and internal levels, foremost of which is protecting the country’s northern and eastern borders from smuggling and drug trafficking.
