AMMAN — Social Security Corporation (SSC) subscribers with accounts at local banks can now inquire about their dues and pay them online through the eFAWATEERcom service, available via the corporation’s website (www.ssc.gov.jo).
At a meeting with reporters on Tuesday, SSC Media Director Musa Sbeihi announced the new service, which aims to facilitate payment procedures for optional subscribers, especially expatriates and those subscribed through their institutions to save time and effort.
In addition, the move seeks to guarantee fast rotation of money and create a competitive environment among banks to provide better e-payment services, Sbeihi said, adding that the new service will also reduce paper consumption.
“The e-payment service is among the corporation’s measures to achieve excellence in the provided services,” he noted.
Jordanian expatiates in Gulf Arab countries have called for such a service during their meetings with SSC representatives, according to Sbeihi.
The new service is “guaranteed, supervised and regulated” by the Central Bank of Jordan, and subscribers interested in utilising it are required to register at their banks to get a username and password in order to receive the SSC validation number to be used in transactions, the SSC official said.
“Payment processes will directly be transferred to the systems of the SSC and the banks,” he told reporters, and all banks across the Kingdom are accredited to provide the eFAWATEERcom service, except for Citibank and Rafidain Bank.
The service fee for optional subscribers is JD0.5 for each transaction, while users with compulsory subscriptions will be required to pay JD1.5 for each payment, regardless of its amount.
In order to enable expatriates to pay their dues on time, SSC is expected to launch another payment service through credit and debit cards within the first half of this year, according to Sbeihi.
Over 1 million workers at some 60,000 institutions are subscribed to the corporation, he said, while 68,000 people are optional subscribers.
Sbeihi added that the value of compulsory subscriptions every month stands at some JD78 million, while optional monthly subscriptions are around JD6 million.
