SOFEX's MESOC opening event covers ‘rapid advances’ of defence industry

AMMAN — The Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference (MESOC) kicked off in Aqaba on Monday, featuring representatives from 38 countries, in addition to more than 300 armament and defence contractors.

Attended by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, the event focused on discussing the rapid advances occurring across the military defence industry, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The conference took place at the InterContinental Hotel in Aqaba in the presence of a number of senior officers of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and military representatives from other countries, as well as officials and decision-makers from around the world and representatives of local and global media outlets.

General Manager of the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX), Brig. Gen. Ayman Al Batran commended JAF's support for the conference.

SOFEX provides a platform for decision makers and military officials to exchange views and experiences and build real partnerships to counter future threats, he said.

The opening ceremony included three sessions held under the name of MESOC, with the participation of special operations commanders from armed forces of various countries.

The sessions focused on unifying counterterrorism concepts and exchanging tactical know-how, in accordance with international security strategies and expanding cooperation within the global special operations community. 

Hosted by the JAF, the one-day MESOC is the official opening event of SOFEX, and features detailed seminars and discussions delivered by senior military officials from around the world.

SOFEX 2022, which will kick off on Tuesday for three days in Aqaba, will see the participation of numerous defence companies, as well as the exhibition of light and heavy weapons, including pistols, modern automatic rifles, anti-tank systems, armour, helmets and reconnaissance devices among others.
