SSIF, UNDP organise virtual conversation series on pension funds

AMMAN — The Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) - Jordan are organising a virtual conversation series titled “Pension Funds:  Investing in Resilience" from September 28 until 30 with the participation of international and regional pension funds.

The “first of its kind” event in the region aims to exchange expertise on the contribution of pension funds’ investments to strengthen economic growth and alleviate the negative impact of socioeconomic crises, with great attention to the sustainable development impact of these investments on local communities, according to a statement from the organisers.

It also aims to shed light on the importance of investing in emerging and developing countries, contributing to the economic growth, poverty eradication, addressing unemployment inequalities and achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

A number of key figures will be speaking at the event, including Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, Minister of Labour/ Chairman of the Social Security Corporation Board of Directors Nidal Bataineh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Mothanna Gharaibeh, SSIF CEO Kholoud Saqqaf and Resident Representative of UNDP Jordan Sara Ferrer Olivella, in addition  to high level speakers  from international pension funds and investment funds, namely Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, Canada and Kenya.

The event will also be attended by experts from Arab pension funds and the public and private sector representatives from Jordan and the region.
